Why Being Car-Free is Important to You: Aside from the impacts a metropolitan region has on many aspects of our environment when it is designed and dependent on cars as the majority means of transportation, having the option to live car-free  is integral to defining regions as ones that are also urban. Having spent time in cities that are populated and built much more densely than Memphis, I came to recognize and enjoy the ease of living sans-car and made the decision to un-incorporate a personal vehicle from my daily routine.  While car-free in Memphis is, at times, a challenge, it is one that I confront because I choose to be the change I wish to see.
